There is an ancient saying mirrored across cultures:

“Treat the Mother to Treat the Child”

We take this saying to heart and have created a unique offering for parents and caregivers of children receiving care with Akilah.

The Mama Bear Chair

It’s just right for dads and caregivers too!

Introducing:

As part of my commitment to caring for the whole family, I offer parents and caregivers the option to receive a mini acupuncture treatment while their child is being treated. A little support for you, while your little one is in good hands.

  • When you bring your child in for treatment, you have the option of receiving a complimentary mini acupuncture session focused on stress relief—because your wellbeing matters, too.

Slip off your shoes and settle into the cozy Mama Bear Chair. Akilah will place 4 to 10 gentle points to support your nervous system, then tend to your child’s treatment while you rest with your feet up. When your child’s session is complete, your needles will be removed—and you’ll both float out feeling calm, connected, and cared for.

  • Mini treatments are designed to offer general stress relief and nervous system support, and due to the limited time, we aren't able to address specific concerns during these sessions. If you have something particular you'd like to work on, you're always welcome to schedule a full treatment focused entirely on your needs. I'd be happy to support you.

  • Due to time and space constraints, mini treatments are limited to one parent or caregiver per visit. If others are interested in care, we’d be happy to help schedule a separate appointment just for them!

No need for childcare—your kiddos are welcome here.

I know firsthand how challenging it can be to find childcare when you just need a moment to care for yourself. That’s why I’m committed to making it as easy and accessible as possible for parents and caregivers to receive support in my practice.

When you schedule an appointment for yourself, you’re absolutely welcome to bring your baby or child(ren) along. I’ve created a cozy waiting area with books, toys, and soft blankets—so your little one(s) can play or curl up with a movie while you rest and recharge.
